Description

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 On January 23, 1978, a murder was committed in Sacramento that was far beyond the ordinary murder in terms of the violence done to the victim. The victim was David Wallin, 24, a laundry-truck driver, who had returned home after work with his 22-year-old wife, Terry, who was three months pregnant. The police said they could not determine a motive. #2 The local police were both horrified and mystified by the crime, and Russ Vorpagel was alarmed because he knew that the killer could strike again. I was due to go out to the West Coast to teach at one of our road schools on the following Monday, and we made arrangements that allowed me to arrive on the Friday before. #3 I made a guess that the slayer was a white male in his twenties or thirties, and that he was a paranoid schizophrenic. I thought he would be thin because I knew of the studies of Dr. Ernest Kretchmer of Germany and Dr. William Sheldon of Columbia University, who believed that men with slight body builds tended toward introverted forms of schizophrenia. #4 I was able to deduce that the killer was an introverted person with problems dating back to his pubescent years. I believed that if the killer had a car, it would be a wreck with fast-food wrappers in the back, rust throughout, and an appearance similar to what I expected to be found in the home.
